Children's Musical Theater San Jose Scenic Artists: George Pettit and Stephanie Conrad

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: Kraft finish corrugated, fireproofed of course, but with NO base paint, was the technique used in this production. I drew out the design, then Stephanie painted in the drawing using only a dark burnt umber line color, thin glazes, and a limited use of white for snow. The warm kraft color showed through as a unifying element. This technique saved time, paint, and money, and looked great.

ANNIE WARBUCKS: White finish corrugated was used. Both productions required building the stage and audience seating in the arena. The sets were about 70' wide and over 20' high, all made with combined corrugated cardboard flats assembled on site, with load-in a week before opening night; and all with volunteer labor, except for me & Stephanie, to assemble the scenery.
